How to add and use ratios in sherloc

Your Performance page tracks two groups of ratios: Performance ratios (your core figures, such as revenue, profit and cash at bank) and Efficiency ratios (everything else, including working-capital ratios, burn and runway). Here’s how to add one and read it once it’s up.

1. Open the ratio picker

On the Performance page, click the + icon in the Performance ratios or Efficiency ratios header, depending on which section you want to add to. This opens Create a new ratio, with that section’s tab already selected. Switch to the All tab if you want to browse across both.

2. Find the ratio you want

Search by name or acronym, or scroll the list. Each ratio shows a plain-English description and an acronym chip (for example CCC for Cash Conversion Cycle), so you don’t need to already know the jargon.

3. Check the accounts and create it

Selecting a ratio opens a short explanation of what it shows, plus the account(s) it’s calculated from. Most arrive pre-mapped to an account, so double-check it’s the right one. A few arrive empty or part-filled for you to complete:

Net Profit, Monthly Recurring Revenue and Annual Recurring Revenue arrive empty. Days Sales Outstanding and Cash Conversion Cycle have Debtors empty. Forecasting Operating Working Capital has Incomings and Outgoings empty.

You can edit the Ratio name and Acronym before creating it. Use Back to return to the list, or click Create once you’re happy with the mapping.

4. Read and manage your ratio

Your new ratio appears as a tile in its section, showing a chart of recent months, the current figure and how much it has changed. Use the menu on the tile to Show calculation (how the figure was worked out, with the underlying rows), Edit graph or Delete.

Example: adding Cash Conversion Cycle from Efficiency ratios. Search “cash conversion”, select it, then confirm that Cost of sales, Stock, Revenue, Debtors and Creditors point to the right accounts. Debtors starts empty, so pick the account that holds what customers owe you, then Create.
